Happy Thursday! Thursday is Jupiter’s Day.
In Deepak Chopra’s Book the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, he names this day as an embodiment of the Law of Intention and Desire. Within this law we’re invited into a belief that within every intention & desire there is the mechanics for its fulfillment. And, two core practices we’re invited to lean into are trust and present moment awareness.
Today there is a planetary combo alive in the sky you’ll want to reflect on in the context of your intentions + desires!
Specifically the roots of two important concepts that influence our choices, behaviours and follow-through: values + ideals.
To set the stage, let’s ground in two definitions as reference points:
principles that help you to decide what is right and wrong, and how to act in various situationhttps://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/values
principle or a way of behaving that is of a very high standardhttps://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/ideal
With these two definitions in mind let’s dive into the astro-symbology of today’s aspect (aka conversation) between Venus and Neptune.
Venus is at 15 degrees Sagittarius and forms a Square to Neptune at 15 degrees Pisces. Jupiter traditionally rules both Sagittarius & Pisces. So, from a traditional rulership perspective an inner conflict of values & ideals may be alive for us, in some area of our life.
Themes related to these two planetary archetypes:
Venus, Goddess of Beauty and Love; Money, Pleasure, Harmony, Artistry, Social Affairs, Decorations, Longing.
Neptune, Lord of Dreams; Imagination, Fantasy, Ideals, Spirituality, Mysticism, Inspiration, Sensitivity, Disillusion, Secret Sorrows, Compassion, Confusion, Savior, Illusion.
With these two energies engaging in a conversation, we can expect our artistic & romantic, dreamy senses to be heightened. Our hearts & fantasy may lead the way. So it can be helpful to enjoy this pleasurable connection and contemplate it’s deeper call. Left brained types of activities may not be best supported beyond contemplation.
The quality of the conversation between these two archetypal forces is known in astrology as a square.
What does a square symbolize?
Squares produce tension and strain; not always comfortable, but tension can be a useful condition.
Planets in square aspect want something different, and they may be working at cross purposes.
Grappling with squares is all part of the maturing process. Squares create will and strength of character and force us to grow.
Fundamentally, squares are about reconciliation.Tompkins, Sue. Aspects in Astrology
Zodiacal Sign’s Symbology
Sagittarius–Pisces are involved with this pattern. This sparks a pattern described as a dance of big dreams that illuminate a yearning & searching for some ideal.
Having Jupiter as the traditional ruler of these Zodiacal signs, they do share a few things in common. Both signs do not want to be confined or tied down. They share beliefs of potential & magic. As mutable signs, both can activate restlessness and at times the sense of an aimless wandering.
Elementally however they express quite differently. Sagittarius is a fiery sign and Pisces a water sign. These two elements don’t work well together naturally. Have you ever tried to start a fire in the rain?
In the best way the common parlance of these two realms speak to reconciling our values & ideals; in the shadow there can be an experience of exaggeration and carelessness. Values shining bright in Sagittarius may seek to burn the bridges of the Piscean watery ideals of, all is one.
What resonates for you about a conflict of values & ideals when it comes to realizing your intentions and your desires?
Today contemplate, rather than act might be a helpful centering point. If you feel confused and challenged, listen to your favourite music, dance and receive it’s resonance. Pull out that adult colouring book and let yourself play. Draw in your journal as you contemplate the questions (versus using words). Invite & Allow yourself to feel into the messages alive for you currently in your transition about: values, ideals, intentions + desires.
It is helpful to remember this aspect is happening in a broader context. Our thinking and emotional fields reflect some important clues in the sky.
Context of the Moon & Mercury
We’re in the waning phase of the moon & specifically what is known as a time of consolidation, conservation & completion. We may find ourselves called at this time to share and create understanding of what was illuminated during the Full Moon on Tuesday.
Mercury remains moving backward in the sign of deep watery Scorpio. Mysteries, truths and secrets still seek to be revealed, reclaimed and integrated (healed).
So if you have waves of tear arise, welcome them. Invite them to flow and release.
Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.Edgar Allan Poe
At the end of the day, there are clues based on our own natal mandala that this dance is specifically activating. If you’re aware of your chart look to see what houses 15 degrees of Sagittarius and 15 degrees of Pisces are and consider their broader themes and how they’re possibly inviting a reconciliation of values and ideals in your life.
With Mercury retrograde and the Moon waning, we may find ourselves in an inner pull back to the past and possibly with this square fearful of the future.
The invitation feels like a call beyond the timeline of thinking to one of engaging OUR inner world, in the NOW.

Inquiries to support exploration:
- How might matters of my values need to mature in greater alignment with my ideals?
- To what degree are my ideals alive in my values?
- What is guiding my intentions and desires?
- Are my romantic ideals serving my values in the here and now?
- What if I were to reconcile my view of self love? How might this support greater coherence of my greater intention at this time of life?
